Conservatories London, Get A Quote
A lot of London homeowners get in touch with us because their existing conservatory has become more trouble than it's worth. Cold in winter, unbearably hot in summer, draughts coming in around the frames, condensation sitting on the glass every morning. If that sounds familiar, you're not alone. Older conservatories were built with materials and glass units that simply don't perform the way modern ones do, and the difference is significant.
Solving Draughts and Heat Loss
Most of the heat loss in an older conservatory comes from two places: the glazing and the roof. Single or early double glazed units let warmth escape quickly, and polycarbonate roofing makes things worse by offering almost no insulation at all. A new conservatory fitted with A-rated or better double glazed units, or triple glazed where you want the highest performance, holds heat in a way that older structures simply cannot match.
The frames matter too. Our uPVC profiles are multi-chambered, which means they trap air and reduce heat transfer through the frame itself. The result is a room that actually holds a comfortable temperature in January, not just in July. Your heating system does less work, and your energy bills reflect that over time.
Condensation between the panes is a sign that the sealed unit has failed. New glass units with warm edge spacer bars are far less prone to this, and they also reduce the cold spots around the edge of the glass that cause condensation on the inside surface during cold snaps.
Better Security for Your Home
Security is something worth thinking about carefully with any conservatory. Older designs often relied on basic locking systems that would not meet today's standards. The door and window hardware we use now includes multi-point locking mechanisms as standard, along with shoot bolts and anti-lift devices built into the frame.
The glass we use is toughened or laminated depending on the application. Laminated glass in particular holds together rather than shattering if it takes an impact, which adds a meaningful layer of resistance. Combined with solid uPVC or aluminium frames that cannot be easily levered, your conservatory becomes a proper secure room rather than a vulnerable addition bolted onto the back of your house.
If you're adding a new conservatory to a home in London, it's worth making sure the door that connects it to the main house is also up to standard. We can advise on that as part of the same project, so everything is consistent and properly secured.
Styles and Configurations to Suit Your Property
There are several conservatory styles that suit different properties and budgets. Victorian conservatories have a faceted front with either three or five faces and work well on period homes. Edwardian designs give you a more rectangular floor plan, which means less wasted corner space and a more practical room. Lean-to conservatories, sometimes called sunrooms, are a straightforward option for bungalows or properties where roof height is limited.
Orangeries sit somewhere between a conservatory and a full extension. They have more solid wall area, a flat roof lantern in the centre, and a generally more substantial feel. If you want something that looks like it has always been part of the house, an orangery is often the right choice. L-shaped and P-shaped designs are available for larger plots where you want to create distinct zones within the same structure, perhaps a sitting area and a dining area under one roof.
Roof choice makes a big difference to how usable the space is. Solid tiled roofs with a plastered interior ceiling give you something that genuinely feels like a room, with far better temperature control than a glass or polycarbonate alternative. Glass roofs with solar control coating are a good middle ground if you want natural light without turning the space into a greenhouse. We'll talk through the options with you so you choose what suits your home and your budget.
Our Fitting Team and Timescales
Every installation is carried out by our own fitting team, based here in London. We don't subcontract work out to whichever crew is available, so you get the same standard of work regardless of when your job falls in the calendar. Most conservatory installations are completed within three to five days depending on the size and complexity of the build.
Before any work starts, we handle the planning and design process with you at no charge. If your project needs building regulations approval, we'll walk you through what's required. Our designer will visit the property, take measurements, and give you a clear quotation so you know exactly what you're agreeing to before anything is signed.
Your 10 Year Guarantee
Every conservatory we install comes with a 10 year guarantee covering both the materials and the workmanship. That includes the frames, the glass units, the roof system, and the fitting itself. If anything fails within that period, we come back and put it right. No arguments, no pointing at the small print.
It's worth checking what guarantee any company offers before you commit, because there is a wide range of what's on offer in this industry. A 10 year guarantee on both parts and labour gives you genuine long-term reassurance that the job will be done properly and backed up.
